Um dos meus primeiros trabalhos de casa de inglês este ano foi escrever uma review cinematográfica.Depois de pensar um bocadinho decidi-me por um filme que vi no dia 30 de Janeiro de 2006 e que eu considero um dos mais marcantes que vi até hoje. Claro que o meu comentário a este filme reflecte apenas a minha opinião sobre ele, sem tentativas de imparcialidade ou de grande conhecimento sobre cinema. E já agora, desculpem o facto de o meu inglês não ser grande coisa.
Film: Match Point
Director: Woody Allen
Actors: Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Scarlett Johansson, Emily Mortimer, Matthew Goodman
I watched Match Point at the end of January 2006, and I went to see it merely by chance, since I had never heard absolutely anything about it. The film is about the life of a tennis player, the ambitious and unscrupulous Chris Wilton (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) who starts teaching Tom Hewitt (Matthew Goodman) the son of a wealthy businessman and ends up marrying Chloe Hewitt (Emily Mortimer), Tom’s sister. Then as he follows his father-in-law’s footsteps and becomes a successful businessman, he keeps a secret relationship with Tom’s former girlfriend Nola Rice (Scarlett Johansson). In spite of the great performances of all these actors and the beautiful sets in London, this film has a very interesting message. It was conceived to make people wonder about the importance of small events that happen at random (and apparently of no significance at all) and still end up changing everything and making the difference. However, what happens at random is both uncontrollable and devoid of moral judgment. This is a disturbing story questioning our notions of justice, deservingness, luck and fate.

Se este pequeno texto vos despertou a curiosidade, aproveitem para ver este filme e pensar um pouco sobre ele e sobre a mensagem que pretende transmitir. Pelo menos na minha opinião vale muitissimo a pena.

eu adorei o filme... Curiosamente foi o primeiro que vi do Woody (shame on me)... Depois tentei cultivar-me um pouco mais na filmografia deste grande senhor, e não me arrependi minimamente. Quanto ao "Matchpoint" especificamente... Posso dizer que adorei o conceito do filme, e acho aquele última cena algo de fenomenal... O "matchpoint" final com o lançamento do anel do rio, e ele a voltar atrás...e como a consequência disso foi a oposta da que eu esperava. Tal como a ATTeixeira recomendo vivamente a quem ainda n viu (isso acontece com alguma de vocês?:))

"The Man who said he'd rather be lucky than good, saw deeply into life..." Um bom filme sem dúvida, com muitos jogos de sorte e azar e uma pitada de sarcasmo onírico pela maneira de como o filme se desenrola....e tem o seu desfecho!
Certainly a good choice of film, but still i liked "Scoop" better!
